First visit since the reopening..there are still some slight hiccups, but overall a wonderful dining experience. The staff was exceptional, and the food was good, the ribs are as good as ever..go for the full slab. Looks like an interior upgrade as well...everyone should be happy they're open again, they will only get better.
Highly recommend this place! Medium well burger with candied bacon along with cantaloupe crush cocktail. Ambience is relaxed has nice takes you back to the great Gatsby vibes. Perfect for a date night or guys night out. Nataki our server was possibly the best server I’ve had at any establishment. Management was also wonderful to deal with.
I went last night, on a Thursday evening, with a large group of 9 people. We had reservations and there was no wait. The service, food and atmosphere are all fantastic. I was a little earlier than the rest of my group. We were greeted by two top notch hosts who told us our table was all set and ready. The server (I think his name was Alex) promptly came by, greeted us and got us a drink while we waited. I really dig the atmosphere, it feels classic and modern at the same time. They had a live jazz trio playing a few times throughout the evening. The manager came over a few times to ask how everything was, so we could really tell they care about your dining experience. And of course, all the food was great! We had the bread rolls, calamari and stuffed mushrooms for apps and then I had the ribs, mac & cheese and fries for the main. The ribs are fall off the bone and likely do not need any additional sauce. Even the little cup of coleslaw was good. The menu is small, but I think it's smart of them to keep options limited and just do every dish really well. I don't think I had one bite of food that I didn't enjoy. I cannot recommend Gale Street enough for a date, large parties (with reservations) and just a nice dinner out. This is my first time coming here, and I will be back to try more!
Gale Street Inn is BACK and better than ever! Beautiful upscale dining on the NW side, also family & group friendly. Location: Conveniently located across the street from CTA buses / blue line, & Union Pacific Northwest metra stop! perfect place to pop by for a bite or drink while in Jefferson Park, or for any special occasion. The ambience: inside is lovely (great warm lighting, beautifully appointed decor, occasional live music) and heartwarming to see some familiar faces in the wait staff. Food & Bev: rest assured many of their food staples are still available (the ribs, tomatillo soup, bread with honey butter & au gratin potatoes are better than ever)…also excellent drink selections (cocktails, wine, beer) + some very welcome new additions to the menu, including but not limited to: - calamari - steak frites (fries are perfection) - beet & pistachio salad - kale cesar salad & more …
Recently visited the newly rebooted Gale Street Inn. I’ve been there twice and all I can say is wow. Talk about an upgrade. First time I went with my wife, I had the pork chop. Juicy, tender, on a bed of pureed sweet potatoes, which ended up serving as a nice sauce. It has a really nice char on the outside, making the fat on it nice and crispy. So good. My wife had the chicken. I didn’t get to try it but it looked good. Definitely a large portion. My next visit I had the burger. My rec would be to get the candied bacon on it. Definitely lifts it to another level. The fries too are on point. Crispy shoe string fries! My fave. Also don’t sleep on the parker rolls. I ended up getting them both times. Vibe is chill and relaxed, feels like old school Chicago. I could see it maybe getting a bit loud on a busy weekend with a drinking crowd, but I’ve only been on weekdays and that was not my experience. Great date spot. Wish I took photos. Next time. All in all 10/10.
UPDATE! NEW OWNER SAME GREAT QUALITY. So excited children could once again join the meal. The updates to the place are gorgeous very chic and still very cool supper club vibes. It was great to see Paulo brought back people who had been working their for years. The food was phenomenal service impeccable. Will be back soon!
Excellent filet mignon. Just had dinner and everything was delicious. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and they brought out warm pretzel bread to go along. My wife had the house salad and I had the tomatillo soup. Absolutely delicious. For entrees I did the filet mignon with lobster tail and my wife ordered the chicken. An absolute must for steak. You will spend some money but well worth it. Thumbs up.
We’re back baby! The reopened Gale Street Inn has the adored “big hitters” of the original restaurant, along with some exciting new options to try. My husband and I shared a full rack of ribs with a side of roasted broccolini and mac & cheese. All three were beyond delicious. The ribs are still fall off the bone my friends! It was amazing to see old faces, along with welcoming and charming new ones. Paolo, the new owner was so welcoming. It is the old wonderful ambiance, with an exciting new energy. Thank you so much for rebirthing this gem back into the JP :)
